Establishment of Drone Academy


In the morning of  19 September, 2020, at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT), VNU-HCM Key Laboratory for Internal Combustion Engines and Agridrone Viet Nam Device Fly Joint Stock Company signed a cooperation agreement on the establishment of the Drone Academy providing certificate training programs on applying and operating drones. This is the first Drone Academy established in Vietnam.

After signing the agreement, it is expected that at the beginning of October 2020, the two sides will launch training courses and research on drone appplications and issue certificates on operating flight devices in accordance with the UTC standards of DJI; research on the civilian applications of drones; manufacturing drones, as well as providing highly qualified human resources for drone solutions in Vietnam.

Depending on the level of application, the courses will include varied training such as mapping and surveys, aerial photography, community safety, industrial inspection, LV1 operation training, agricultural aircraft operation ... with tuition fees from 4 - 7 million VND (with incentives for students).

Drones (UAVs - Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) are unmanned aerial vehicles of different sizes, shapes and applications. Nowadays, Drones have become widely available in all aspects of life and are applied in many fields such as agriculture (spraying aircraft), industry, wind power, solar energy ... to serve the needs of industrialization and modernization of the society.

“Nowsaday, there are a lot of applications of flying devices in life. Drone technology has developed and prospered in the last years with an increasing demand for drone pilots. The Drone Academy at HCMUT has just been born in good time to meet the social needs”, said by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Ngo Khanh Hieu - Head of the VNU-HCM Key Laboratory for  Internal Combustion Engine at the signing ceremony.
