Pre-symposium of SPISE2009 is a four-day series of intensive lectures and workshops designed to train participants to approach the insights of consumers' food choices and preferences. The program of this year runs from the 3 to 6 August, just right before SPISE2009!

This workshop is funded and co-organized by the HoChiMinh-City University of Technology (HCM-UT), Institut National Supérieur des Sciences Agronomique de l'Alimentation et de l'Environnement (AgroSup Dijon), and Agrocampus-Ouest (France).

The workshop program is strongly oriented to the development of working skills in organizing a consumer test and data analysis. It also provides participants with the necessary statistical and sensory consumer background for those skills.

Each topic of instruction involves a lecture presentation and a project conducted by participants. Through SPISE2005 and SPISE2007, this design is proved to successfully provide participants with complete understandings of methodologies, experimental design, experiment conduct and data analysis. This learning is helpful for participants in doing their own research later.
