History & Mission

The Faculty of Materials Technology (FMT) was established in June 2001. Young as it is, the faculty has proved to be an outstanding training and research institution in comparison with other older faculties of the university. FMT is responsible for the manpower and technology developments in the area of material science and technology. The goal of our discipline is to provide students with fundamental knowledge of material science and technology and prepare students for careers so that they will have enough skill and ability to fulfill the mission of  material innovation which have been entrusted by the country. To meet the high demands for new and alternative materials of the country, the Faculty  orients and carries out a lot of research works on advanced materials and processing technology.

Staff    & Facilities

The faculty has 47 academic and research staff. With enthusiasm, creativity and dynamism, the staff has an objective to develop FMT into a leading unit in teaching and scientific research in the field of materials technology.

To support teaching and research activities, the faculty has established 5 labs which are well-equipped with modern facilities to test and experiment with materials and technologies.       

 

Focus Areas of Research

  • Advanced materials: micro-nanostructure materials, semiconductors, piezoelectricity materials, Supraconductor materials.
  • Metal nano powder, electromagnetic wave energy absorbed & transferred materials, high durability materials and alloy, Special casting methods with high precision and environment pollution reduction.
  • Materials corrosion and protection.
  • Biomaterials, High performance polymers, Polymer bland, Photosensitive Polymer, composite & nano-composite, Rubber and products from rubber.
  • Crystallized glazes, porous materials, refractory materials, porcelain teeth and implant, Nanostructure pigment.
