Welcoming Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology

A preparation for accreditation for some engineering fields offered by the two faculties (Electrical and Electronics Engineering as well as Computer Science and Engineering) by the expert group from Arizona State University (ASU) took place at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology in the morning of 14 May 2019. This activity is part of the BUILD-IT project.

As planned, the experts from ASU conducted monitoring and evaluation of training quality at the two faculties for two days from 14-15 May 2019. The main activities consist of reviewing the report of self-study and supporting documents, interviewing people involved at the faculty levels including the dean and vice deans, representative of scientific council, heads of departments, representative of quality assurance board, lecturers, students, alumnus, employers; at the same time, a check of infrastructure, facilities and equipment, supporting services for academic and research activities and so on at the two campuses was also conducted.

As accreditation purposes, the experts from ASU focused on criteria, such as students, training objectives and output standards, curricula, continuing improvement, lecturers, infrastructure, facilities and equipment making it ready for the official accreditation according to the ABET which tentatively takes place in October 2019. The event is one of the operation objectives of the BUILD-IT project, paying a special attention to STEM training quality improvement which is described as participation of all parties involved, graduate qualifications, continuing improvement of curricula and lecturer qualifications.
