Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology welcoming the Delegation of Thunringia, Germany

 

On 10 April 2019, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong, the Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology had an important meeting to welcome the Delegation of Thunringia, Germany.

This is the largest delegation of Thuringia ever going on overseas business trip, which include representatives of the Thuringian Ministry for Economic Affairs, Science and Digital Society, the rectors, directors of significant universities and enterprises of Thuringia, Germany. From HCMUT, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong, the Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Danh Thao, Vice-Rector and leadership of related offices & faculties engaging in the discussions with those distinguished Delegates.

 “Thuringia has never sent such a big group abroad before”, added by Dr. Arnulf Wulff, Senior Vice President, Department of Investment, International Business and Cluster Promotion, which expressed Thunringia State’s highest interests in expanding the cooperation with Vietnam. The visit aimed at discussing the support for cooperation in the development of commercial technologies and investment for German organizations and businesses as well as support the implementation of cooperation projects on science and technology transfer between the two countries.

At HCMUT, the participants enthusiatically discussed the possibility of cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and the universities and enterprises of Thuringia. The representatives also took the time to present the topic of new construction materials as well as the topic of digitalization, information technology in Vietnam and in the world. The delegation also spent time to visit glass testing site within the IAB / INNOVENT project at Department of Construction Materials - Faculty of Civil Engineering, HCMUT. This is a cooperation project between the largest research institutes in the state of Thuringia, including the Institute of Civil Engineering Research, TU Dresden University, Innovent Research Institute, Weimar Institute of Applied Construction Research with Vietnamese partners including Viglacera Corporation, Center of Tropical Building Materials and Department of Construction Materials – Faculty of Civil Engineering, HCMUT.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong also expressed the honor to welcome the Delegation and emphasized that the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology will create favorable conditions for the two sides to develop cooperation in training areas, staff and student exchanges, scientific research, ... and other fields allowed by the governments of the two countries. This will help further expand the choices of studying, working and research for students and faculty. At the same time, the Rector also said that Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology would be willing to connect other universities and research institutes between the two countries for further cooperation in the future.
