On May 9th, 2012, the Higher Engineering Education Alliance Program (HEEAP) organized a seminar entitled “Active Learning – Why & How?” for all HCMUT lecturers at Conference Room A4.

The innovative teaching method focuses on training students with intensive knowledge, practical lab and adequate soft skills. They are essential factors which create highly-qualified engineers satisfying stringent requirements of recruitment.
Attending the seminar was the board of rectors led by Prof. Vu Dinh Thanh – Rector, Prof. Tran Thien Phuc – Vice Rector of Investment and Development and Vice Rector of Academic Affairs – Dr. Truong Chi Hien and a representative from the sponsoring partner – Jeffrey Goss – Assistant Dean/ Executive Director, Office of Outreach and Extended Education, Arizona State University (ASU).
With attendance of lecturers from engineering faculties, the seminar gave emphasis on advantages and feasibilities of implementing the innovative teaching and active learning at HCMUT. The seminar introduced the innovative teaching method sufficiently and creatively which has been applied at renowned universities around the world. The new method is the key leading HCMUT to ABET Accreditation and improving HCMUT education quality.
HEEAP Cohort 2010 and 2011 welcomed many constructive feedbacks for HEEAP Program. Besides, the board of rectors represented by Prof. Vu gave responses to questions regarding HCMUT support in order to make HEEAP program an inspiring model which can be widely applied at engineering faculties of HCMUT. Prof. Vu expressed “HCMUT aims at achieving ABET Accreditation and making HCMUT the top university in Vietnam and being world-wide recognized”.
Prof. Vu affirmed that the seminar was an incentive to accelerate the educational transformation from traditional to the more effective and modern system.
