Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) celebrated its 50th anniversary in October 2007, an important milestone marking its consistent progress achieved in higher education. HCMUT has developed both in scale and prestige due to high quality of training and scientific research. In all over the country, especially in the Southern part of Viet Nam, you can see HCMUT alumni holding important positions in government offices, industries and typical enterprises; or you can see them as excellent engineers in factories or as brilliant researchers in technological institutes. This simply results from the fact that our university has been the most reputable and one of the oldest universities in the South. Every year, 5000 graduated engineering students contribute to the development of the society and economy.
With high capability in scientific research and technology transfer, HCMUT has built up a close relationship with the industry and community, especially in the provinces of the Mekong Delta and the eastern part of the South. Our viewpoint is that a University of Technology not only trains engineers, supplies the society with highly qualified human resources but also contributes to solving scientific and technical problems in the nation. Only by carrying out the responsibilities of training, conducting scientific research and developing technology in order to contribute to the economy of the country can we accomplish the mission entrusted by the people and the government.
In the new frontiers of global economy and in response to the needs of increasing training quality, HCMUT places top priorities to (1) further enhance the training and scientific research quality, (2) to set up and develop university – industry linkage aiming at training highly qualified engineers to address the needs of the industry, and (3) to build up and expand the relationship and collaboration with universities and to take advantages of supports of the superior authorities with the ultimate objectives to develop the university and to be recognized as one of the leading universities of the region with an international environment for study and research activities.
HCMUT is a promising starting point for a fruitful career of students, lecturers and researchers.
